Factors contributing to successful treatment and patient's satisfaction after tympanoplasty
Jarosław Wysocki, Łukasz Żywczyk

Chronic otitis media is one of the most common diseases in otorhinolaryngology clinics. It is known from numerous observations that evaluation of results of surgical treatment of this disease done by doctor and patient are frequently discrepant. In the present study a literature review was done in order to single out several important problems concerned with tympanoplasties. In particular, possible factors which may exert an influence on patient's perception of final results of that treatment, such as doctor-patient relations, doctor-patient differences in the approach to the treatment, patient's satisfaction and improved quality of life were taken into account. All of them may significantly affect patient's perception of final results of the treatment.
