Surgery of vertigo
Waldemar Narożny

The objective for the treatment of a vertiginous disease is to
eliminate the underlying pathology either with drugs or maneuvers.
In vertiginous diseases, surgery is seldom performed,
either to eliminate the underlying pathologic event or to improve
stability of the incoming vestibular signals. Successful treatment
of the underlying disease is not always feasible. Various surgical
approaches have been used to treat a variety of vertiginous
diseases. These can be classified into two groups: corrective and
destructive procedures. Selection of the approach depends on
the type of the vertiginous disease. This review mainly focuses
on the current status and the future of the surgeries used in the
treatment of a variety of vertiginous diseases.
