Etiological diagnostics of articulation disorders
Andrzej Obrębowski, Zofia Obrębowska

Articulation is a mechanism of forming phonemes. In this
article, the authors discuss the role of head resonators in the
production of vowels and consonants. The process of maturation
of articulatory mechanisms in the course of physiological
speech development is considered. Articulation disorders
have been discussed with regard to hypoacusis, central and
peripheral speech disorders, mental retardation and impaired
speech fluency.
The necessity to review classification of communication disorders,
and articulation disorders, in particular in the International
Clasification of Diseases (ICD), has been postulated.
