Acoustic neuromas – diagnostic and treatment methods
Barbara Jamróz, Kazimierz Niemczyk

Most of cerebello-pontine angle tumors are acoustic neuromas.
Modern diagnostic procedures, such as gadolinium-enhanced
MRI and ABR offer better chances for diagnosis of small tumors,
with the improvement of treatments effects. The aim of this
study was to review diagnostic methods and treatment options
for acoustic neuroma. Both microsurgery procedures (said by
the U.S. National Institute of Health to be “gold standard”)
and alternative treatment options, such as radiotherapy and
“wait-and-scan policy” have been described. Besides, possible
complications and consequences of individual therapeutic procedures
have been indicated.
