Mediastinal and neck abscess in the course of the isolated tuberculosis of the lymph nodes – a case report

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by strains of
Mycobacterium. World Health Organisation estimates annual
incidence of tuberculosis for 8.8 milion of new cases. As much
as 7988 new cases of pulmonary tuberculosis were recorded
in Poland in 2007. Extrapulmonary tuberculosis was detected
in 628 patients.
This article reports a rare case of mediastinal and cervical
abscess in the course of the isolated tuberculosis of the lymph
nodes treated in the ENT Department of Mazowiecki Specialists
Hospital in Siedlce.
