Palatal myoclonus, known also as essential palatal myoclonus was
described for the first time by Boeck in 1867. Since then, there
have been 300 cases described in the literature. The authors
present a case study of 48 years old woman. The aim of this case
report is to highlight the importance of appropriate management
of this disorder. In the reported case, myoclonus receded after
the palate had been injected bialaterally with botulinum toxin.
The existing relevant literature has been reviewed by the autors
with reference to the management strategies.
