Aim of study. The aim of the study was the estimation of relation between PEF and cardiac ischaemic episodes in patients with stable bronchial asthma and accompanying ischaemic heart disease.
Material and methods. Fiftheen patients with bronchial asthma and ischaemic heart disease and 13 control subjects with only ischaemic heart disease were included into the study. The 48 hours monitoring of ecg with simultaneous measuring of PEF were performed.
Results. In 7 patients the episodes of PEF decrease were followed by manifestation of ischaemic events in ecg (within mean time of 1.46 h). The decrease of PEF lasted for up to 2.45 h after the ischaemic event was finished. In two patients a decrease of PEF concomitant with clinical ischaemic pain was observed.
Conclusions. Association of ischaemic events with decrease in PEF suggests cause – effect relationship between these two parameters.
