The aim of this paper was to present current opinion on immunochemical basis of allergic reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics. Structural differences between these drugs are the cause of the presence or absence of cross reactivity. 40 years evolution of this cross reactivity has been presented in the study, accounting its changes as a result of putting new antibiotics into practice. Also there were presented differences within this evolution in dependence of population in which the studies were performed.
