Anna Zakrzewska, Danuta Gryczyńska, Ewa Polakowska, Marwika Mirecka

The goal of the study was to assess total serum IgE and IgA levels in children with allergy-like symptoms referred to allergy clinic.
The examinations were done in 110 children 2-17 years old suffering from upper respiratory or alimentary tract symptoms. The skin prick - tests were positive in 53 children. The IgA and IgE immunoglobulin levels were also tested. In 37% the level of IgE was higher than normal. In 48% the level of IgA was lower than normal. In 15,4% the higher level of IgE and paralelly lower level of IgA were observed. The authors did not find any correlation between total IgE and IgA levels in tested patients.
