Standard protocols for pollinosis immuntherapy (IT) recommend that vaccines should be used prior to the pollen season. However, in some vaccines also the whole-year lasting treatment protocols for pollinosis IT have been worked out. The aim of this study was to compare the clinical effects of two schedules of immunotherapy with Catalet T vaccine (Biomed, Krakow, Poland): the classical mode that precedes pollen season and the continuous schedule with decreased dose during pollen season in patients with pollinosis. The study results indicate that continuous pollinosis IT with Catalet T revealed significantly increased clinical efficacy if compared with the preseasonal type immunotherapy. Both protocols demonstrated similar safety and required comparable periods of time.
