As the number of children with symptoms of food allergy/intolerance increases, the paper presents current rules of diagnostics procedure in food hypersensitivity. Attention is paid to the role of anamnesis, physical examination and allergological-immunological tests (skin tests, IgEc, sIgE) which are the base of routine allergological diagnostics. The application of these diagnostics methods in food allergy diagnosis is discussed.
From a practical point of view, oral provocation tests, particularly a double-blind placebo-controlled challenge, are of the highest diagnostic value.
