Clinical efficacy of 0.05% solution of mometasone, applied nasally in 23 patients with seasonal allergic rhinitis was evaluated in the open trial with saline applied as a control. The influence on the drug on cytology of the nasal mucosa was also evaluated. The nasally applied mometasone significantly alleviated the symptoms of rhinitis and lowered the intake of the supporting drug - loratadine. The drug was well tolerated. The results of cytological evaluation showed a significant reduction in eosinophilia and neutrophilia and the lack of any signs of cytological damage of the nasal epithelium due to the action of mometasone.
