The atopic allergy is at present one of the most common chronic disease. According to the data of European Allergy White Paper, published in 1997, "the prevalence of allergy is increasing inexorably all over the world. If appropriate measures are not taken soon, it may prove unstoppable".
The fundamental actual principles for the management of atopic diseases are: allergen avoidance, specific immunotherapy and pharmacological treatment. But, allergen avoidance is often ineffective, immunotherapy may be employed only in a restricted number of patients, while the pharmacotherapy, even by very modern drugs, can't never cure the allergic disease and must be mostly employed during several years with the side effects risk and increasing economic costs.
Therefore, the new modalities of therapy are urgently needed. In authors opinion, some real chances exist, that on the turn of our century should be possible to influence on the down regulation of allergic inflammation, to block the IgE/cellular receptors interaction, or block the IgE-antibodies by recently enployed antiallergic peptides.
