Restriction diet treatment of children with cow's milk protein allergy
Teresa Małaczyńska

The only effective treatment method for children with milk allergy is the
elimination of cow's milk in any form from the diet. This article, based on
the international guidelines, presents the basic principles of diagnostic
and treatment diets for children allergic to milk. The author pays attention
not only to the selection of milk formulas, but also to the safety of
restriction diet. The diet itself should ensure adequate supply not only
of protein and calories, but also of the micro- and macroelements, so as
to prevent nutrition deficits. Mothers breast-feeding their allergic baby
should eliminate all dairy products from their diet. At the same time, the
mothers’ diet should include vitamin D and DHA fatty acids.
