Nanoparticles: Prospects for the application in immunology and allergology
Anna Głobińska, Marek L. Kowalski

Nanotechnology is a fast growing multidisciplinary area of science based
on the use of the properties of structures with overall size within the
range 1-1000 nm. Nanomedicine has been derived from nanotechnology
and uses the opportunities of nanostructures to develop new therapeutic
strategies and diagnostic methods. Broadly defined nanostructures, such
as liposomes, nanoparticles of metals, nanodiamonds, dendrimers, nanoemulsions
or nanotubes could be potentially used in immunology. Nanotechnology
brings hope to the introduction of new vaccines, adjuvants
and immunomodulatory drugs, which use might lead to breakthrough in
the treatment of both infectious and non-infectious diseases,.
