Haemostatic abnormalities in asthma and exercise-induced bronchoconstriction
Mateusz Łukaszyk, Ewelina Łukaszyk, Ziemowit Ziętkowski, Anna Bodzenta-Łukaszyk

The recent data suggest that the asthma inflammation process located in
the bronchi closely correlates with activation of the coagulation system.
Blood platelets, the smallest and anucleated morphotic constituents of
blood, are not merely an element of haemostasis. The platelets are also
involved in allergic inflammation. In this article we discuss the role of the
blood coagulation system and blood platelets in asthmatic inflammation
and remodeling as well as in exercise-induced bronchoconstriction.
