Pressure urticaria - etiopathogenesis, diagnosis and therapy
Alicja Kasperska-Zając

The most characteristic feature of delayed pressure urticaria (DPU), is painful and burning sensation, deep oedema with accompanying erythema in areas exposed to pressure, delayed after the stimulus and persistent. The clinical image is diverse, with symptoms which may be low-intensity or variable in time, which is a diagnostic obstacle, especially in patients with concurrent chronic spontaneous urticaria. Due to poorly recognized pathomechanism, oppressive symptoms and unsatisfying therapies, DPU appears as a highly difficult clinical issue. The disease brings major obstacles to the patients’ social, professional and family performance, contributing consequently to very low quality of life of those suffering from DPU.
