The impact of atopic dermatitis on patients’ and their families’ quality of life

presence of eczematous skin lesions accompanied by intense itching.
Permanent itching results in sleep deprivation chronic fatigue and mood
changes. The presence of skin lesions can decrease patients self-confidence,
may increase anxiety, and even lead to depression. Symptoms of the
disease also impair emotional involvement, interpersonal relationships
and sexual life. There are several scales for assessing the quality of life
in skin diseases. These tools help study patients of all ages, as well as
patients’ families. Effective treatment of AD leading to improvement of
skin symptoms is associated with better quality of life.
