Role of selected growth factors in asthma

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the respiratory system, in
which many cells and substances released by them are involved. Chronic
inflammation is accompanied by process of structural bronchial remodeling.
Among the mediators of inflammation, growth factors play an
important role in the pathogenesis of asthma. The paper presents the
role of selected growth factors (VEGF, EGF, TGF-β, PDGF and neurotrophic
factors) in bronchial asthma.
