The mechanisms of UV induced immunosuppression

Human skin is often exposed to ultraviolet light which is a part of
solar radiation. UV radiation inhibits the function of immune system,
and induces many changes on molecular and cellular level. This increases
organism’s sensitivity to various infections, and decreases the
efficiency of the immune system to defend tumors that can arise due
to mutations caused by UV radiation. In this work the authors describe
the animal models used in photoimmune suppression studies and
mechanisms that lead to this phenomena.
