Vaccinations in patients with allergic diseases
Aleksandra Szczawińska-Popłonyk, Anna Bręborowicz

Asthma and allergic diseases result from complex interactions between
genetic and environment al factors. Among exogenous factors
modifying function of the immune system, infectious diseases and
vaccinations may play a role in predisposition to the development of
allergic diseases and asthma. Besides, numerous vaccine components
may provoke hypersensitivity reactions; hence active immunization in
patients with allergic diseases, particularly in these sensitive to egg
protein requires special precaution. On the other hand, therapy of allergic
diseases may have an important influence on the effectiveness
of vaccinations. New generation vaccines, thanks to the ability to
modify the immune response profile, may be a promising treatment
option for patients with allergies.
