Pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) is uncommonly diagnosed in the pediatric patient. A number of case reports of pediatric PTE has increased over the last years. This article reviews the risk factors, clinical presentation and treatment of pulmonary embolism in children. We focused on risk factors of pediatric PTE (congenital or acquired coagulopathy, central venous lines) different than adult and difficulties of diagnosis.
