Asthma and infections in neonates and in children
Iwona Stelmach

Cough is the most common presenting symptom to general practitioners, and persistent cough is one of the most common problems referred to allergologists and respiratory physicians.
Definitions of pediatric cough fall into three main categories built on: duration of cough, likelihood of an underlying disease or process and cough quality. Pediatric chronic cough is defined as a daily cough lasting for >4 weeks. This article presents current knowledge on the management with children with chronic cough recommended by American College of Chest Physicians in Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guidelines.
