Asthma and infections in neonates and in children
Henryk Mazurek, Elżbieta Mazurek

The aim of astma therapy is to achieve control of disease, defined by management guidelines as treatment goals. These goals represent expert opinion, and are based on clinical symptoms and lung function measurements. In clinical studies efficacy of examined asthma therapy is usually measured using single or combined end – points. Those studies demonstrated that asthma control can be achieved in a part of patients. More patients achieved the target goals for single indices, than overall control. In last years several methods of assessing airway inflammation have been developed for research purposes, but are not yet included into assessment of asthma control.
